origami pictures again

This is an interesting tessellation called Fujimoto Crowding Butterflies. The first one was folded from a 6 inch square. The second was folded from a 1.5 inch square.

This is a tiny, tiny frog I folded from a 1.5 inch square. The model is from Toshikazu Kawasaki's book Origami Dream World - Flowers and Animals.

Both of these models are a pain to fold this small because they require folding the paper into a 16x16 grid.

AWE! It's a tiny frog. That rocks!!! All the things you make are so tiny. That is amazing.

Just wanted to thank you for posting this picture of the crowding butterflies ... and for the arabesque you showed on the origami LJ. I tried "butterflies" last night and just adore it, and I'm happy to say that I folded my first arabesque out of 2" papers! Haven't curled back the petals yet, though.

(I really need to keep more 6" paper on hand to try out new things; having to do something for the first time with 2" all the time is a bit trying.)

So anyhow, thanks -- lovely models, great inspiration. The points on your two "butterflies" models match up brilliantly.

Thanks.

I really wouldn't recommend trying most things with paper that small. That has to seriously limit your options. =)

Happily, I dug up some very old, somewhat crappy 6" paper, so I do have a bit. But I seriously need more, and it definitely limits what I can try out.

Have you tried using any other types of paper?

Not really. I'm a bit of a feral origami enthusiast, don't have much specialist knowledge. And I really do like the crisp precision you can obtain from the two-sided colored-and-white garden-variety stuff.

I would just suggest experimenting with different types of paper. You can get interesting results.
